AM practical test: how do I demonstrate balance and moped control?
With an instructor, protective gear and gradual practice, maintain your path and control on the chosen vehicle.
In the AM practical test, you must show that you can control the moped or light quadricycle selected for the exam, maintain your path and stop when needed. Balance does not come from tensing up or staring at the front wheel. Build it through supervised practice, looking in the direction of travel and coordinating the controls under the official programme.
Practise control, not speed
Before manoeuvres, learn the riding position, brakes, throttle, indicators and transmission on the exam vehicle. Wear the required protection and make sure the helmet and clothing are correctly fitted. Start only after you understand the exercise and the instructor’s signal; ask for it to be repeated before moving if it was unclear.
For low-speed exercises, look toward the path you want to follow rather than fixing your eyes on a nearby cone or the front wheel. Keep your arms relaxed and use a speed that allows control; make gradual corrections. Use the brakes and throttle as your instructor taught you for that vehicle, avoiding abrupt braking while leaning. If you lose balance or leave the route, follow the instructions and stop safely instead of forcing your way through.
Example: approaching a turn between cones, your eyes remain on the nearest cone and the handlebars become stiff. With your instructor, repeat the exercise in a protected area while focusing on the exit point and the minimum useful speed. Do not practise the same correction in open traffic.
Practise on the specific vehicle
MIT requires the AM test to be taken on the vehicle type specified for the booking. A two-wheel moped, three-wheel moped and quadricycle have different handling and dimensions. Ask your school to let you practise on the same model and transmission, and to rehearse the manoeuvres in the current test programme.
Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you review AM rules and theory questions by chapter and revisit mistakes. It has no balance exercises or moped training: those require an instructor and suitable protective gear.
Quiz Patente Ufficiale offers chapter-based study and error review to help you revise AM rules and theory quizzes.
Frequently asked questions
Should I ride faster to stay balanced?
Follow the speed required for the exercise and your instructor’s directions; do not accelerate to compensate for an uncertain path.
Can the app teach me moped balance?
No. You can use it to revise AM quizzes and rules; balance and control require practice with an instructor on the vehicle.
